HAVE YOU RETIRED FROM THE N.H.S?

NHS RETIREMENT FELLOWSHIP

If you have recently retired or are shortly to retire from working in the NHS – JOIN THE NHS RETIREMENT FELOWSHIP.

The fellowship branches provide continuing friendship with your retired colleagues, places to go such as days out, holidays and theatre visits. It also has a support service if you are unwell, hospitalised or housebound and a benevolent fund if the need arises. All members receive a quarterly Fellowship magazine which gives news of other branches throughout the country. Having worked in the NHS you obviously care about other people. The caring does not stop when you retire and neither do the good things that happened to you along the way.

The Fellowship was formed in a small way in 1978. Now in 2010 there are approximately 200 UK branches and over 14,000 members. Some of these will probably be your colleagues. Why not come along and join our friendly group, see some familiar faces and make some new friends.

The Leicester branch meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Sports and Social Club of the Leicester General Hospital. We meet from 2pm to 4pm. We begin with a short business meeting where everyone is brought up to date with coming events, news of sick members and intended outings including holidays. This is followed by visiting guest speakers with many and varied subjects. Recently we have heard about Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, the work of the Air Ambulance Service and the Power of Plants. After the talk there is the opportunity to catch up with friends over a free cup of tea or coffee. Yearly subscription to the Fellowship is only £5.00.

Between the monthly meetings we have a games afternoon which is very popular, and again held in the Sports and Social Club, with Scrabble and a variety of games. There is a lot of chatter and a fair amount of cheating but the whole idea is to get together and have fun.

Car Parking around the Social Club is free (providing you are in the Social Club) and write your vehicle registration number in the book provided in reception. We also have stickers to put on the dashboard of your car. Meals are available within the Social Club at very reasonable prices, and many members meet for lunch prior to the meeting.

We would love you to come and join us. Make that call and join. To make contact with your local branch please call:-
