GRASS VERGES

Dear Editor,

I have lived in Evington for many years but am very disappointed to find the increasing number of grass verges being ruined by cars being parked on them. I am aware the winter weather has made the situation worse and that parking is a problem in some of the narrower roads but we are lucky to have so many roads with verges and trees. It devalues the area to see the verges in such a mess. If you are parking at the shops on Downing Drive it is not acceptable to churn the verge up. It is in fact against the law to park on the verge even if it is outside your own house. Please think carefully about the look of our area.

In contrast, congratulations to those residents who tend their verge, mowing it in the summer and planting flowers round any trees.
