24th (St Philips) Scout Group

Our Beaver Colony is celebrating its 25 th anniversary this year. The Colony was founded in November 1984 at the Base in Evington Drive when the leaders were Janet Hall, Susan Grant, Jayne Riordan and Sheila Dewhirst. In 1987 Kate Helm joined the team as Jayne and Sheila had by this time moved on. Susan embarked on a career change leaving Janet and Kate in charge until 1994, when Dawn Harvey and Susan Pacitti took over. Alan Bootle carried on the good work when Dawn became a teacher and moved away, and finally we have June Ridge as our current leader.

Since 1984 many, many boys have passed through the colony experiencing Fun and Friendship at the beginning of their Scouting careers, before moving on to the Cub Pack and the Scout Troop where their Scouting skills and experiences were developed.

There will be a celebration on Saturday May 1 st from 2.30pm - 5pm at the Base when former Beavers have been invited to attend an informal drop in and catch up with old friends. Former Beavers who have not received an invitation but would like to attend, are asked to contact Janet Hall on 210 9348 or email janethall88@hotmail.co.uk .
