A NEW ARRIVAL
A new arrival is celebrated with the birth of THE EVINGTON ECHO - our latest 'community baby'. This happy event has been achieved despite some 'pangs' and a slight shortage of staff on duty (!) but we are counting on the people of Evington to help with future productions.
We hope you enjoy reading The Echo - a non-political, general interest paper - YOUR newspaper. We want to print YOUR news so tell us about your neighbourhood, your street and even your home. What happens at your school, your church and in your local organisation will be news to other Evington readers.
In the first issue we report on local events and topics. There are profiles of people in the public eye and a 'Friends & Neighbours' feature. We hope to print a comprehensive list of Evington organisations so let us know if your group is not included on Page 7 and if you are planning a special event, we'll be happy to include details. A Village Diary will be another feature so keep us informed.
Getting married? Contact The Echo and we'll do our best to send a photographer to record the happy day. Perhaps you are celebrating a Diamond, Gold or Ruby Wedding. Let us share your good news.
Junior readers - Page 5 is yours so send in your contributions to help us fill it.
We also aim to produce a Letters Column so here is your chance to praise or criticise any aspect of Evington life - including The Echo! Constructive ideas, please.
Warmest thanks go to all who have helped with this first issue and especially to our advertisers for their generous support. Our rates are very reasonable for a guaranteed circulation of 4,000 and we'd welcome more advertisers for our next issue.
Issue No 2 will appear in September so your contributions should be handed by 14th August either to the Librarian at Evington Library or to any of the Echo team or local contacts on the back page. If you can offer us some of your spare time and would like to join our production team, we'd be delighted. Just call any of our local contacts.
We hope you will join with us in wishing a long and healthy life to the EVINGTON ECHO!
