EVINGTON LEISURE CENTRE FREE SWIM SESSIONS. In response to the Governments announcement to stop funding the 'Free Swim Programme' from 31st July 2010, Leicester City Council in partnership with NHS Leicester has provided funding to enable the 'Free swim' sessions for 16 years and under and for 60 plus to continue until the 31st August 2010. There is work still taking place to address the future of this initiative in hope that there will be some provision of free swimming in Leicester. SWIMMING LESSONS. Again this year we are providing week courses of 'One to One' swimming lessons. These are proving to be very popular for children and adults who just need an extra boost to improve their technique. FITNESS CLASSES. After analysing our recent customer satisfaction survey a new programme for Fitness Classes has been launched. We still offer the popular Circuit training classes and Legs, Bums, and Tums (LBT) but have also introduced some new classes with new instructors - come and meet Mandy on Wednesdays at 6.30pm for Cardio Combat, Taruna on Saturdays at 10am for Total Aerobic Workout and for the early birds we have Rupinder on Sunday's 8.30am improving your core stability with Pilates. The online booking system is now in place for members to reserve their places in advance. For further information and timetables of all our activities contact reception or visit out web site: www.LeicesterCityCouncil.gov.uk/sports. CHARITY EVENT. As some of you may be aware Luke Morgan, Facility Manager, enjoys physical challenges. Earlier this year he completed the London Marathon, in May he joined some of the staff in a cycle ride from Leicester to Skegness and in August he has his biggest challenge yet: a cycle ride from Land's End to John O'Groats. He has set a personal target of 100 miles per day. Please help support this event through donations to 'Menphys' Luke's chosen charity. Collection boxes are in the Leisure Centre. |
