KEELAN PHILLIPS

Keelan Phillips, who lives in Evington, is bmx flatland champion and world bmx battle champion. He got into bmx-ing at 15 and entered his first competition at 17. Keelan went to St Paul's School in Evington. He attained his A-levels, was all set to go to university and then decided to take a year out. He went to the USA where he won his first international professional bmx competition in Athens, Atlanta.

University is on hold at the moment as Keelan is busy with his successful company, Inertia BMX Shows. With his business partner, they organise around 200 shows a year, many of which are in schools in the UK. Keelan recently performed in front of staff and children of Linden School at the official opening of the school's new bike shed.

You have to watch Keelan to understand just how skilful he is at his sport. He manoeuvres his bike and changes direction with control and perfect balance; he pirouettes on one wheel and glides gracefully into the next move. It is truly amazing.

Keelan is a talented young man. He designed the Zion Low-Kee, a bike frame that sells all over the world. The two all-important factors for a bmx rider are the strength and weight of the frame. The stronger the frame the heavier the bike, making handling more difficult; so Keelan worked on several prototypes, until he perfected the Zion Low-kee – resulting in a lighter frame that retains its strength.

Don't miss an opportunity to see Keelan in action – you will be impressed. Check out the website for further information www.inertiashows.com .
