NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT ON THE VILLAGE GREEN?
The Friends of Evington Park and Village Green have been working on this project for a while. They have consulted with many people in the community, local secondary and primary schools and LCC Play and Parks Services departments. The proposed equipment, chosen by over 800 young people, is a climbing frame and a roundabout.
This will be located where ‘the rocking horse' and ‘the rocket' used to be on the Village Green. The Friends are planning to put in a bid to Biffawards for £42,500 and need to find 10% of the cost themselves. Evington Ward have kindly donated £1000 and ‘the Friends of' have done a lot of fundraising and recently raised £480 at the Festival of Dance. However, they are still £1,078 short of the10% needed. Any cheques (made payable to the Friends of Evington Park and Village Green) or cash, can be taken to Evington House in Evington Park and handed in to the office.
