SALE HELPS CHRISTMAS APPEAL

We want to thank everyone who helped towards the recent “Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Appeal”. The kindness of local people, and those not so local, has been overwhelming and has meant that 485 boxes have been filled with gifts, which will bring happiness to many children who very seldom enjoy toys and presents at Christmas time.

Betty Illingworth, one of our church members, and Christian worker, has led the project at the Church of God on Downing Drive. Betty says,''Without the help of those of you who donated items to fill the boxes, the knitters who tirelessly knitted, and others who have been so generous in so many ways, we would not have been able to fill so many boxes nor find the money to cover transportation fees.” The sale, held on 31st October in the church hall, raised £358 towards transport of the boxes.

These and other activities go on throughout the year and we are always pleased to welcome neighbours from the local community to our Coffee Morning on Fridays at 10.30am, as well as other events, details of which you can find on our notice board outside the church. For Christmas we hope to hold a Good News with Carols Service on December 20th at 5 o'clock, and a full Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve. A warm welcome awaits!
