EDITORIAL
In this edition of the Evington Echo, we wish to thank pupils at Linden Primary School for their lovely paintings for the front cover. We have feature articles on Councillor Deepak Bajaj, Leicester City of Sanctuary, opinions on the orange bag recycling scheme, visiting Wistow, as well as an interview with local author Roger Farmer who has written his autobiography. There are articles on our usual areas of interest, sport clubs and societies and the kids’ page, which features DIY decorations for this edition. We have letters about buses and scaffolding that is left up too long.
The Echo now has a facebook page at ev_echo@yahoo.co.uk. When properly up and running we plan to keep you informed of local news that might otherwise be missed out because we publish bi-monthly. The Echo is also linked with Citizen’s Eye (www.citizen’s eye.org).
The Echo team wish to thank Naz Bibi for her dedicated work as our Advertisement Manager. Due to pressure of work she now needs to resign. We welcome Gill Yeates as our new manager. Please contact her about any queries to do with the Adverts and the small adverts on page 14.
Page 15, has been reorganised. Instead of ‘Dates for Your Diary’ the events are listed under the name of the group. We hope this makes it easier for you to find the activities that interest you. If your Evington activities are not here, please get in touch. Also if you have Evington news, please e-mail editor@evingtonecho.co.uk or ev_echo@yahoo.co.uk or telephone 2204525 anytime.
We are looking for reserve volunteers who would be willing to have their names on a list to be contacted as ‘shadows’ for our existing Area distributors and for walking rounds. If you could volunteer for this, please let Eamon know on 2737425 or distribution@evingtonecho.co.uk
We wish all our readers a happy Christmas.
Helen
