EDITORIAL

Many congratulations to Dr. David Turnock, an Evington resident and Emeritus Professor of Geography at Leicester University, who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate at the A. I. Cuza University at Iasi in Romania for researches and publications in the Human and Economic Geography of Eastern Europe and Romania in particular. There is an article about the Turnocks' visit to Romania on page 8.

Also many congratulations to Councillor Manjula Sood, another Evington resident, who received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from Leicester University for her community work within Leicester City. The article about Manjula is on page 5.

The committee for the Evington Fete and Show are now hard at work planning for the 2010 event, which will take place on Saturday 7th August from 12noon until 5pm on Evington Village Green (near The Cedars). Do book this date in your dairy.
