LEICESTER’S FIRST HINDU SCHOOL GETS GREEN LIGHT FOR SEPTEMBER OPENING
- See it for yourself: Open Day, Sunday 6th February -
The Government has today (29th January) announced that it has given full and final approval to the business case for Leicester’s new Hindu school, the Krishna-Avanti Primary, meaning that its opening this September is confirmed.
The school is now pressing ahead to welcome its first parents, by hosting an open day for those planning to come to, and considering, the school from 11am on Sunday 6th February. The day will offer an opportunity to view its home at Evington Hall in Spencefield Lane , Evington, hear from the Project Director, Pradip Gajjar, about the plans for the Hall’s refurbishment and also from the Headteacher of its sister school, the Krishna-Avanti Primary in Harrow , about the curriculum development and ethos.
Set in five acres of grounds - which will provide room for a large playground and extensive playing fields – Evington Hall was, until 2007, home to the Leicester Grammar Junior School , so its conversion to a new school will be relatively straight forward. The school’s first sixty reception-aged pupils will be drawn equally from the local Hindu community and from local residents, regardless of faith, and the school is particularly keen to welcome pupils from outside the Hindu community.
Commenting on the approval of the business case, I-Foundation Project Director, Pradip Gajjar, says:
“This is the final administrative hurdle we needed to jump to be able to get our school open later this year. Now it is full steam ahead to create a beautiful facility, with an innovative and stimulating curriculum and an outstanding staff team.
“Naina Parmar, the head teacher of our hugely successful sister school in Harrow , will be guiding us along the way and her track record is second to none.”
