APPLE PRESS SESSION

The Evington Orchard Group had arranged with Park Services to hold an Apple Press Session on Saturday 19th November. The press was hired from Transitions Leicester and the group decided to have a morning practice session - good idea as it took nearly an hour for us all to set it up!
An afternoon session was available for anyone to bring their own Apples and Containers to make use of the Press.
Apples from the Arboretum Orchard were collected a few months before and stored in the Cellar of Evington Park House and nearly a third of these were still alright to use on the day. The Press came with a pasteuriser so some of the juice could be pasteurised to last longer.

It was a great day and many people came along with their Apples to have a go at using the Press. The group will be holding a similar event next year.
We had a lovely lunch. Many thanks to the group members who brought in their homemade goodies and to Rachael for the big vat of Leek & Potato soup!
