EVINGTON’S COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE
Pupils from St. Paul’s School, Evington dressing the tree with the decorations the students made from CDs and CD cases. Mr. Bill Swinford, who has lived in the village for the past 45 years and has always been involved with local charity work, he instigated this project. Last year the community tree did not have the right place and impact, but this year, outside the library, the tree became the focal point of the village.
The funding for the tree came from Leicester City Council’s Ward budget, so thanks go to them and our supportive councillors as well as the group of community volunteers who were also involved and made this project possible.
The community came together with a band and sang under the tree. Let’s hope we can build on this and bring joy and goodwill to all the residents, who will be able to join in the festive celebrations in future years.
