NEWS FROM THE CITY OF LEICESTER COLLEGE

Students, parents and staff at The City of Leicester College are celebrating the findings from their November Ofsted inspection.
Their conclusion was that The City of Leicester College ‘is a good and improving’ school. They found that the leadership at all levels in the college was ‘strong and effective’. They found that the students were ‘well-prepared for life beyond college’; not only were their academic standards above average, but they also developed as ‘confident, articulate individuals’.
Community Cohesion was judged as outstanding: ‘students of different ethnic heritages work harmoniously’. Parents and carers are positive about all aspects of the college, summed up in comments such as, ‘a brilliant school’.
Overall, Ofsted found ‘a strong morale, a positive learning ethos and a firm desire to succeed. As a result the college’s vision to “be happy, be ambitious and make a difference is becoming a reality”.
As the college was celebrating its success, it also reached an important landmark in the building of the new school as Councillor Vi Dempster, lead member for children and schools at the City Council, joined students and staff in digging the first hole in the groundbreaking ceremony. We look forward to bringing you further information on the new build as it progresses this year.
