FOOTBALL ROUND-UP:
FC KHALSA

A great turn and low shot from the tightest of angles 10 minutes from time by R Gill gave FC Khalsa a 1-0 win over Sileby Saints on 19th November, conquerors of them in the Beacon Bitter Cup.
Keeper Vip Chello was for me the man of the match. His handling was excellent all game, pulling off several good saves and also keeping out a Rimmington penalty which really kept Khalsa in the game.
Curran also turned in a good display down the left hand side putting in some useful crosses and also had a couple of good hits at goal.
This was a canny win for Khalsa even with several more scoring chances missed.
‘The Khalsa’ went down 2-3 away to the then third placed Newhall United on 26th November with T Reid and V Smith getting the goals.
They then went down 1-2 to Barlestone St Giles on 3 December. V Smith was again on target. Khalsa nicked a useful 1-0 win over Earl Shilton Albion on 17th December through an S Jones goal.
However, they suffered a surprise 6-0 home defeat against Melton Mowbray on January 7th. This leaves Khalsa around the mid-table mark in Everards Senior League Division 1.
‘Realistically we can aim for a top 5 finish and build for next season,’ a source from the club said.
FC Khalsa under 11s managed to find the net twice in their away match with East Goscote on 13th November. Unfortunately Goscote found it 5 times!
They got a well deserved first win on the board with a 3-1 home triumph against Quorn on 27th November.
They got another point on the board with a 4-4 away draw with Kirby Muxloe 88 on 8th January.
