SERVICES AVAILABLE AT EVINGTON LIBRARY

Ever since our local library opened in December 1969, it has always offered more than just books; it has always been an integral part of the community. When the library opened it harboured a stock of 13,789 books. That day saw people queuing to join the library, and amongst them were not only Evington residents but also residents from the surrounding areas of the county. In those days the library opened every day until 8.00pm and all day on a Saturday. In December 1982 the Library adopted computerised book issuing, making services even more efficient.
One thing is for sure, the library has always been well used. With two frequent reading groups, toddler sessions and lessons for basic computer skills, there is a wide array of services on offer. The home library service is especially convenient for those who are unable to come to the library and free regular transport to and from the library is provided. The library also works with the NHS in promoting health and well-being. The free request service for city residents makes finding exactly what you’re after easier and convenient. The DVDs, CDs, talking books, magazines, newspapers and local history archives that are on offer show that you can visit the library even if books are not your primary interest.
