ST JOSEPH’S CHURCH UPPINGHAM ROAD

St Joseph’s had a successful Rome Pilgrimage in November, which included visiting the Forum and the Colosseum, attending the weekly Papal Audience and on Sunday hearing High Mass at St Peter’s. In the week the party also had their own mass at the Tomb of St Peter which is the most privileged altar at which we can attend mass in the basilica.
During Advent our children raised over £700 in sponsorship with their liturgy project and these funds will go to the Mother of Peace Aids Orphanage in Zimbabwe.
Our last social event of the year was the annual Candlelight Carol Service in memory of loved ones which was held in the Watermead Courtyard, followed by seasonal entertainment in the parish hall.
New Sunday Missals are now in stock at the Watermead Shop. Opening hours are: Tues, Wed and Thursday from 10.30am – 3.30pm; Sat 5.00 – 5.30pm and Sun 11.45am – 12.45pm.

A CORRECTION FROM ST. JOSEPH’S CHURCH
In the April/May edition of the Evington Echo, Gail Gray reported on a music event that took place at St Joseph's Church.  The information she quoted about the leader of the day's workshops was written in good faith and taken directly from the official diocesan publicity given to her.  In response to a query being received by the Evington Echo as to the authenticity of some of the detail relating to the leader for the day St Joseph's parish have investigated the accusations and offers the following statement.
This is to retract a publicity statement made regarding the "Enter Into His Courts with Praise" workshop presented in the Nottingham Diocese earlier this year. The material stated on the first page that Robert Cakebread was the "Choral Director of the 2010 Papal Mass, Bellahouston Park." This is incorrect and should not have been included.  Full apologies as no misrepresentation was in any way intended.
