CROWN HILLS GOES TO CROWN COURT
The annual Citizenship Foundation ‘Mock Trial' Competition took place this term at Nottingham Crown Court. Once again Crown Hills entered a very strong team to compete against teams from Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Having experienced a ‘taster day' at the Leicester Crown Court, the team put their knowledge of the judicial system to good use as they set about their ‘mock trial', acting out their parts as Prosecutor, Defence Lawyer, Witness, Court Usher etc. Round one saw Crown Hills drawn against the High School from Chesterfield then against Ecclesbourne School, Derby. After lunch we had to defend strongly against Kesteven Girls' College. Our best efforts produced some high-scoring individual performances and all agreed the day was a great success and would stand us in good stead for next year. Chris Pollock |
