EVINGTON FLOWER CLUB

For our April meeting, we were entertained by florist Kerry Evans with a number of arrangements entitled ‘In Springtime'. The first offering was of a modern turn, using a bunch of mixed flowers from a supermarket. Starting with a small cellophane lined container and oasis, the longer Gerberas were tied together at the neck and placed in the centre, then three antirrhinums, three chrysanthemums and one lily were cut short and placed round the rim with taped moss to keep it all in place.

The second presentation consisted of a florists' oasis holder which was used as a pew end and decorated with spray roses, gerberas, chrysanthemums and spirea, with ribbons to form a handle and make a bow at the bottom. The photograph here shows Kerry Evans with this lovely design, which could be interpreted for a Christmas hanging for the door.

The third arrangement was of a corsage. The fourth design was for a table or church window ledge using a long dish and a mixture of Wilkinson's hanging basket plants set in compost.

Lastly, again a very modern shallow dish with yellow tulips, carnations and lilies.

At the March meeting Gayle Shell demonstrated ‘Spring again' and kept us delighted and amused with lovely flowers and foliage.
