MAYFLOWER METHODIST CHURCH Our Easter celebrations started on Palm Sunday. We were joined by friends from Evington Road URC and St Philip's for a procession from the Hall into the Church. During Holy Week there were meditations at Uppingham Road and Mayflower each evening, leading up to Christ in the Centre in Humberstone Gate on Good Friday.
Our fund raising May Fayre was held on May 9th. Christian Aid Week started on May 10th with a united service at St Denys. On May 17th we concentrated on Home Missions work on hospitals, prisons, colleges, rural areas and city centres. Our preacher was Rev Sally Martin from the Brandon Unit at the General Hospital. On Saturday June 13th, Mayflower is holding a Gift Day from 10.30am to 12.30pm when the minister, Rev Julie Bradshaw, will be in the Minister's Vestry to receive gifts for the Church. The Church will be open all day from 10am to 4pm for private prayer and quiet meditation. All are welcome to come and experience a time of peace and reflection. Methodist Ministers move around the country every five years or so, and this summer Rev Julie Bradshaw will leave us to take up her new appointment in Luton. We thank Julie for the way she has led us at Mayflower; we shall miss her. Her last service at Mayflower is at 10.30am on Sunday July 26th; that afternoon at 4pm at Christchurch on Clarendon Park Road there is the circuit farewell to Julie and also to Rev Michael Cassidy who is leaving to go to Romford. We wish them both well and God's blessing. Rosalind Thompson
