REBECCA BIRD

Rebecca ran the ‘Race For Life' in July and raised over £100 for Cancer Research UK. She completed the 5k course in 45 minutes. This was an amazing personal achievement as in February 2008 she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and at one stage of her illness she was unable to walk. 

 Rebecca said that raising money for Cancer Research UK was a way of moving on and putting her illness behind her.  She is grateful for all the support from family, friends and neighbours, particularly four friends who organised a sponsored bike ride to Cromer to raise funds for the Lymphoma Charity. The Church of God on Downing Drive organised a charity sale.

In September Rebecca will be taking up her place at Leicester University to study for a degree in Psychology. She hopes this will lead to a career in teaching or health care.
