SKYRIDE

Around 50 cyclists set off from Evington Park, one of the hubs for the Skyride, on 30 August. Qualified British Cycling ride leaders guided groups into Leicester and back to Evington Park. The traffic free circuit included Belgrave Hall, the Space Centre and Abbey Park where all sorts of events and displays took place. Over 8000 cyclists took part!

Ride leader Kevin Nicholls from North Kilworth said, “It's great seeing so many cyclists of all ages and abilities taking part in what has been a really successful event.” Other comments from riders from the Evington hub: “Great to see a city closed to traffic to be able to cycle safely.” “Fantastic!” “Can we do it again next year?” “A great family day out!” Six year old Harry looked a bit weary “It was too long,” he sighed. Well he had cycled 17 miles – no wonder he was tired!
