THE WESLEY HALL PLAYERS
The Wesley Hall Players are a group of fun-loving individuals who have been performing annually since 2000. Productions have included, ‘Ministerial Affairs' (2001), ‘Mayhem at the Manor' (2002), ‘Philately and Philandering' (2006), and last year's ‘Breakfast with the Stars'. So who is behind the words and the wit? Maureen Collins has been writing pantomimes and plays for years and eventually she succeeded in getting the congregation at her church to form a drama group. Maureen convinced her friend, Audrey Pearson, to become a player. Audrey remembers when, at age 17, she had six lines to speak in a play and couldn't remember them. She froze. “Even now I'm terrified before a performance,” says Audrey as she looks up from learning her part in Maureen's next production. Since 2002 the Wesley Hall Players have donated over £4000 to local Leicester Charities. ‘Leisurely Does It' is the title of Maureen's latest play. It's based in a leisure centre and features swimming, aerobics, line-dancing, 5-aside football, romance, comedy and ...a twist in the tail! Do come along and support the Wesley Hall Players. ‘Leisurely Does It' is suitable for all ages and you will be guaranteed a fun evening. Performances, starting at 7.30 pm, take place at Mayflower Methodist Church on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November. Tickets cost £4 (£2 for children).
