EVINGTON YOUTH CLUB

Dear Editor,

The management of Evington Young People's Club thought that your readers would be interested to learn about the developments to the revamping of Youth facilities in Evington.

We have a management team and also a small, voluntary team that are giving the club a much wanted face lift. (Anyone handy with a paint brush would be welcome to join us.)

We applied to the community fund for help, and although we were not successful in obtaining the full amount of £4,500, we did receive £1,500. For this we are very grateful. Although it will be swallowed up in ground rent, gas and electricity by the end of the year, at least it means we have a roof over our heads until then. We are preparing a programme of activities for the winter months and training for spring and summer competitions (i.e football, canoeing, table tennis, orienteering and pool). We feel we have a duty to help the Youth and the Community of Evington to progress with activities to stop anti-social behaviour and to engage the youths of Evington to achieve this goal.
