The Evington Echo is a community led, 16 page A4 publication that is printed six times a year and delivered to 5,900 houses and institutions in and around the Evington ward, which is situated within the City of Leicester on the East side. The Echo is entirely run by volunteers who have now formed their own charity called Friends of Evington.
The Evington Echo was first printed in 1981 and has continued without fail. It has kept the same objectives “to provide a platform for local news and opinion, to promote local community groups and events, record Evington past and present and celebrate local talent.”
Any surplus money from advertising the Evington Echo magazine go to further the charitable aims. The volunteers who work for the Evington Echo will decide on their recommendations in line with the constitution. In the present changing climate, the Evington Echo magazine does well to remain sustainable.
If you live near Evington village (LE5) and wish to pick up the latest printed copy, go to Bennett’s Hardware Supplies, Main St. or Evington library, Main Street or J. and A Pharmacy, the chemists, also in Main Street.
