The Objects are:
1. To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment in the Evington Suburb of Leicester and the surrounding area.
2. To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Evington and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances for for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.
The main projects within the combined charity of Friends of Evington are:
Evington Bicycle Club
Evington History and Heritage (Second Thursday of the month from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at the Parish Centre, next to St. Denys Church.)
Evington House Yoga (Mondays and Wednesdays 6.00pm – 7.00pm (Ladies only) and Saturdays 10am – 11am (Yoga for All) at Mayflower Methodist Church, Ethel Road LE5 5P
There is a long-standing campaign for Evington House (LE56DE) to become a Neighbourhood Centre so that more facilities can be offered. Services there in the daytime are: Evington crochet – Tuesday mornings 10.00am – 11.30am
Bilal Yoga – Wednesdays 2.00pm – 3.00pm
Thursday Yoga – Thursdays 10.30am – 11.30am .
