Friends of Evington

Friends of logoFriends of Evington is a registered charity no. 1148649, that was registered on 17 August 2012.

The Objects are:

1. To promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment in the Evington Suburb of Leicester and the surrounding area.

2.  To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Evington and the surrounding area the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances for for the public at large in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of the said inhabitants.

 

The Vision is to inspire a healthy community in Evington through bringing environmental and educational projects to life, providing solutions that benefit local people and protect the planet.

 

The main projects within the combined charity of Friends of Evington are:

The Evington Echo (A community-run magazine delivered to 5,950 homes in the Evington area six times a year.  All people involved are volunteers.

Evington in Bloom.  Affiliated to Britain in Bloom/East Midlands in Bloom to clean and green the local area.  All people involved are volunteers.

There is a long-standing campaign for Evington House (LE56DE)  to become a Neighbourhood Centre so that more facilities can be offered for the benefit of the local community.
