Evington in Bloom

Evington in Bloom is a team of local volunteers who are supported by the charity Friends of Evington and affiliated to East Midlands in Bloom and through them to the Royal Horticultural Society.

It aims to encourage pride in our area and keeping Evington looking clean and full of flowers.  To do this the Evington in Bloom team encourages people to get involved in their own streets or ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ groups and do something, however small, to support the idea.

Flowers help brighten our streets and make us feel good, but the group also take on responsibilities to work through schools so that children can learn about gardening, sustainable developments and care for the environment.

In Evington there are five ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood’ groups and many community groups that support the campaign.

In 2016 the Evington in Bloom team  welcomed judges from East Midlands in Bloom in July and from Britain in Bloom on 10th August 2016.  The theme  was ‘Greener Streets, better lives’ for health and wellbeing.  The tour route for the judges is printed below:

Evington in Bloom received a Silver award from Britain in Bloom and a Silver gilt award from East Midlands in Bloom.
