TRINITY HOSPITAL ( 50 Western Boulevard , Leicester LE2 7BU )

Trinity Hospital is an almshouse charity formed by a Royal Foundation in 1331. The new Almshouse on Western Boulevard (built in 1995) accommodates the independent elderly in 22 purpose-built flats. Nursing care is not provided.

The accommodation includes a fully fitted shower room, lounge, kitchen with fitted units and cooker, a large airing cupboard, and one single bedroom with wardrobes. The flats are carpeted and curtained; residents bring their own furniture. There is a resident supervisor, cleaners for the communal areas, and a handyman. Maintenance and decoration is undertaken by the Charity. A small but beautiful garden area overlooks the canal.

To qualify, residents must be aged over 60 and in need, but able to look after themselves. No catering is provided. There is a House Committee, run by volunteers. To take a look around with a view to applying for residency, contact Mrs Rita Clifford on 2554829.
