EDITORIAL Let's get the formalities out of the way. I would like to introduce this new voice for the editorial- Bella Chohan, nice to meet you. Helen Pettman the usual editor for the Echo, has taken a step back for this issue, and I have the pleasure of being Relief Editor. This will be my last issue, as I will be moving away for University. We will also lose Rhia Chohan, one of our writers, who is due to study Journalism at University, so the best of luck to her. This has opened up spaces on our committee for people interested in Journalism, and helping to construct the final copy of the Echo before it lands on our doorsteps. It is a brilliant chance to play a larger part in the Evington community. The Committee would of course, show you the ropes and pass on its computer skills. We have also recently had a lot of feedback, which you can look out for in this issue, since we made many dramatic changes to the Echo. We now have a brand new look and are a full colour paper. What do you think about the new Echo? We have been inundated with articles for this issue, so we are sorry if you're article did not make it in this time, A theme we have noticed in Evington at the moment is that of charity work. Evington has been feelng particularly generous, with St Joseph's Church successfully raising £1,556 for the charity ‘Let the Children Live' helping street orphans in Columbia. In addition, Chris Hossack coordinated a house to house collection, raising £6,156 for Christian Aid. And finally, let us also not forget about our famous annual Summer Fete. It rained again, but it didn't dampen spirits too much. Thank you for turning out - the ‘Show' side was under cover and there were some fantastic exhibits. Bella Chohan |
