TAKING SHAPE – THE NEW SCHOOL AT JUDGEMEADOW COMMUNITY COLLEGE This ambitious and exciting 17 to 18 million-pound project is on target; with a completion date of 6 June 2009. The facilities will be superb: 66 classrooms; an open-plan learning resource centre with ICT; a state of the art auditorium and drama theatre; an amphitheatre for outdoor teaching and drama performances; a four-court badminton sports centre – are just some of what's in store at the new school. The maths block will be dual purpose and will be run by Adult Learning and Judgemeadow Community College for community use. It will also be linked to the Football Development Centre. The school will be over 70% energy efficient: the under-floor heating will be from a sustainable source – biomass fuel – which is wood clipping pellets; a wind turbine will be installed on Biggin Hill that will generate sufficient electricity to power the Football Development Centre. In the school grounds there will be a balancing pond that will take all the surface water and eventually create a water nature reserve. We look forward to seeing the opening of the new Judgemeadow School. N. Lewis (2417580) |
