OPENING THE BURNABY GARDENS IN EVINGTON PARK
After more than a year's planning and preparation, Park Officer, Rachael Lawton, opened the Burnaby Gardens on 5th July. Over 200 people were entertained by the Hathern Band, followed by a guided tour of the garden led by Mick Eaton, who designed the garden. Councillor Michael Johnson praised the work of the park staff. Lottery funding from “Awards for All” of £8771 was awarded to the Friends of Evington Park and Village Green. This purchased the pergola, two benches, many plants and new paving.
What made this project special was the high level of community involvement organised by the Friends of Evington Park and Village Green with support from Park Services. |
