HOLIDAYS

Despite the summer washout many Evington holidaymakers chose to stay in the UK instead of booking last minute deals abroad. The “staycation” is the result of a combination of the recession and the gloomy conditions.

“A scorching barbecue summer” was predicted by the weather experts - but this never materialised!

Evington Councillor Michael Johnson usually likes several long weekends spread out across the year. He said, “Like creatures of habit we want little and often. The weather doesn't worry us if it rains - you can still watch the boats go in and out on the East Coast.”

Peter Dagley, Main Street, will be enjoying a few days in Wales. “The bad weather isn't really a factor to me. I will stay here until I have saved enough money to go where I want abroad.”

However, Steve Ross of Spencefield Lane will be travelling to Spain for a break.

What did you do for your holidays this year? Did the recession and/or the weather change your plans? Write to the Editor (E-mail or put in Evington Library box.)
