MAYFLOWER METHODIST CHURCH On Saturday June 13th Mayflower held an Open Day of Prayer for members and friends to experience a time of quiet and peace. Mayflower's congregation continues to remember our two Afghan ‘sons' in their thoughts and prayers. One boy has been accepted by the Austrian government and is seeking employment in Salzburg. The other boy escaped to Pakistan, then to Iran, Turkey, Greece where he was safe for a few weeks, and then turned up in Norway. “How did you get from Athens to Oslo ?” “Jesus Christ helped me” was the simple reply. Our minister Rev Julie Bradshaw had her last service at Mayflower, incorporating the baptisms of 2 year old Pierre and 2 month old Miya. Julie was presented with a cheque and a silver photograph frame by our senior steward, Judith Trigg. The following evening, Julie arranged a meeting with our stewards and representatives from Evington Road URC and St Philip's churches to meet our new minister, Rev Dr David Palmer. Our Autumn activities start again in September with Women's Fellowship meetings every Monday at 2.30pm, Healing communion on the second Wednesday of each month, and class meetings and other groups as arranged.
