Deanery Music Day

St Joseph's belongs to the Leicester East Deanery which comprises a group of nine churches in the east of the city, extending to Market Harborough. Musicians and singers from throughout the deanery recently met at St Joseph's for a highly successful Music Day.

During May St Joseph's hosted two Days of Renewal for Leicestershire Ministers of the Eucharist when over 100 delegates were entertained on each day. The Ministers are lay people who assist the Parish Priest to distribute Holy Communion during services and to visit the sick and housebound in the community.

June was a busy month; we held our annual Garden Party for the charity ‘Let the Children Live' in aid of the street children of Colombia when, together with a retiring collection, we raised £1,600. We also held a Fun Quiz night for parish funds and of course the summer pilgrimage to Rome was a great success as usual.

We have seen 15 of our children receive First Holy Communion over two Sundays. There were wonderful services with the church full of the joy of young families. The Children's Liturgy Group continues to thrive with 42 children being present on the first Sunday in July. We are fortunate to have recruited 4 new helpers to the team and plans are in hand for a monthly Children's Mass.
