Planting Elm Trees in Evington Park
This picture shows Jane planting one of the twenty new elm trees in Evington Park . The event took place on 5th December ‘08. The elm tress are called Ulmus Clusius and they are a cultivar elm from Europe . As they are fairly fast growing they make a good choice for avenue planting. They are also meant to have fairly good resistance to Dutch elm disease. This is an attempt to reintroduce this species of tree as there aren't many elms left in Leicester 's parks. |
