LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS?

Don't despair – there's lots on offer in Evington that won't break the bank! Have you considered a walk round Evington Park? If you are feeling a bit more adventurous there's the Arboretum. There's a public footpath across the Golf Course that you can make into a circular walk and include the arboretum. Or if you're feeling really energetic you can include all three of Evington's green spaces and enjoy a walk that will take as long as you like.

How many children (and adults) were lucky enough to have a bike for Christmas? There's a safe cycle route through Evington Park where you can practise without the worry of motor vehicles. Great for roller skating too.

Look out for squirrels! They don't have any road sense whatsoever!

Don't forget that Rachael is organising a New Year's Day event in Evington Park . Come along and try Orienteering in Evington Park at 10am. £3 adults and £1 for children. For further information telephone Rachael Lawton on 2733912 or email rachael.lawton@leicester.gov.uk.

Walk off the excesses of Christmas Day and raise money for LOROS. The 29th Annual LOROS Winter Walk takes place on Saturday 27th December. It's a gentle 5 mile walk over the fields from Houghton-on-the Hill to Keyham and back. Participants start between 9 and 10am from Houghton Village Hall with a warming glass of mulled wine. Tasty soup and other refreshments are available at the half-way point. The walk is suitable for all ages and this year there are prizes for the person, or group, who get the most number of sponsors. Dogs are most welcome. Organiser, Gill Brown, said ‘The walk traditionally takes place on a day when families are ready to wrap up and enjoy a sociable morning in the fresh air. This year we are asking for continuing support to help raise money for 11 new single patient rooms. We hope you can join us.”
Sponsorship forms are available from Gill Brown 0116 2412976. or email: gill.westcottages@virgin.net.

And if you run out of ideas, there's always the cupboards to sort out! All those unwanted toys, clothes, shoes, and books can be put to good use. The Cog Shop in Evington and other charity organizations, are always on the look-out for items.
