OBITUARY - FRANK UTTING Frank will be known to many people in Evington, as he worked as a swimming teacher and lifesaver at our local pool. Frank's interest in swimming started in his 30s when his wife Win, bought him a pair of trunks to wear on the beach at Great Yarmouth. After he got back he thought it was a shame not to wear the trunks more and promptly enrolled for swimming lessons. He never looked back! He was a founder member of the local branch of the Royal Life Saving Society and for the rest of his life he taught swimming and lifesaving to countless children, teachers and parents in the city and county. In 2002, he was one of 50 people in the UK to receive Golden Jubilee Honours in recognition of his voluntary and professional work. He was due to receive another medal from the Royal Lifesaving Society in recognition of 46 years dedicated to saving lives. Sadly he died just a short while before he was due to receive this award. Frank leaves his wife, Win, daughter Jenny and grandson Ryan. |
