WAITROSE EVINGTON (COMMUNITY MATTERS)

In September, Waitrose in Evington introduced Community Matters, which is a way to give £1000 a month to charity.

Nominations for different charities are made by customers and partners and then shoppers put tokens into one of three boxes to select their favourite charity. Peter Gibbs, Branch Manager said, “This scheme will go on monthly for the foreseeable future. Our reason for being here is to support the community. We were pleased to present cheques to our first six charities for September and October: Thurnby Scout and Guide Group, Friends of Evington Village Green, The Air Ambulance Leicester, Children's Holiday Centre (Mablethorpe), Loros and the Air Scouts.”
