Environmental News and Events Current 7th September: Film in Evington Park House at 7.30pm called ‘Forest Garden’. A Forest Garden is designed to produce food in as sustainable way as possible and mimic natural forests with shrubs, trees and perennial plants. 11th Sept: Fleckney Silver Band 3 – 4pm. Evington Park.
8TH June: Practical gardening session in Barnaby Gardens 1.30pm – 4.00pm. Bring a garden fork if you can. 15th June: Meeting to set up a Garden/Conservation Club. 2.00pm in Evington Park House. 22nd June: Park Users’ meeting (chaired by Steve Palethorpe, Area Parks Manager)5.30pm in Evington Park House 22nd June: There is a film night at the Friends Meeting House on Queen’s Road at 7.30pm called ‘A Forest Garden Year.’ It’s about applying the principles of Forest Gardening. 6.45pm for 7.00pm - food to share. Organised by Transition Leicester and the Permaculture Group. 25th June: Tidy up session at the Orchard in the Arboretum. Meet in the Car Park. Organised by the Community Orchard group. 11th July: Piggy’s Hollow workday between 10am – 3pm. Organised by Groundwork. Meet St. Denys Car Park at 10.00am otherwise at Piggy’s Hollow. 28th July: Piggy’s Hollow Walk and Talk with Peter Liddle from the Archaeology Department. 2.00pm session and repeated 7.00pm session. £3 per person, children free.
