RACISM AND EXTREMISM EXPLORED IN COMIC BOOK TO BE PUBLISHED BY STUDENTS AT CROWN HILLS

‘SPEAK FOR YOURSELF' is the title of a new comic book, written by Year 10 students at Crown Hills Community College . The book, which explores issues of racism and extremism, was launched at an event in the college Community Lounge on Wednesday 17th December.

Students in Year 10 worked with writer Tim Haq and artist Paul Barrand to produce the comic book, which will be used by teachers to raise awareness about these sensitive and important issues.

The project was funded by Connecting Communities Plus, a Home Office scheme, and Leicester City Council. The workshops were led by professional artist Paul Barrand and writer Tim Haq of the World Arts Gallery. Leicester Comedy Festival's involvement led to comedian John Ryan leading a workshop session with students.
