JACK OF WITHCOTE AVENUE

For many years Mr. and Mrs. Comery and their son wanted to live on the Goodwood estate, finally they came to Withcote Avenue It wasn't long before they had made friends with quite a few of the neighbours and life went well. Jack helped his neighbours by putting up fences, building sheds etc., looking after houses and cats and taking his neighbours for hospital/doctors' appointments whenever they needed a lift.

In 1985 they saw their son get married and in 1988 and 1990 they were overjoyed at the arrivals of their grandson and granddaughter.

In 1999, Jack's wife Doreen sadly passed away and this was a very upsetting time for Jack and his family, but Jack still found time to help his neighbours and as time went on, Jack got more and more involved with doing good deeds.

When in 2002, Jack suffered a heart attack and was also diagnosed as a diabetic, this only encouraged him to try and do more for people. He helped with a lot of charities including the British Legion, Blind Dogs Association, the Lincolnshire Donkey Sanctuary and The British Heart Foundation. One of his favourite pastimes was watching cricket on the sports field from his deckchair in his back garden, with his two dogs by his side.

Sadly Jack died unexpectedly this October. His family have been overwhelmed by the number of people that have passed on their condolences, regardless of their age, culture or religion. In the 26 years that Jack lived in Withcote Avenue , he had made many friends. He will be sadly missed but not forgotten.

His family would like to thank all his neighbours for their kind words and help in these very sad times.
