The vicar, Stephen Heygate, had his 60th birthday just before Christmas.  He had already done a sponsored walk back in the summer but decided to have an 'Open House' on the first Saturday in January.  He didn't want any presents but suggested that people might make a donation towards the work of our missionary partners, Allan and Anne Lacey, who are working in Uganda .  The response was so good that it raised in excess of £1,000.  We are sponsoring Allan & Anne for 6 years through the Church Mission Society, but we wanted to do something extra for them personally, particularly as they recently had to replace all the tyres on their Land Rover.
