On Friday 26th February a group of volunteers from TCV, St Chad’s and Evington in Bloom set about putting up the framework of the new polytunnel for community use on the Rowlatt’s Hill Allotments ably led by TCV’s Kay.
After quite a lot of digging, measuring, re-measuring and wielding of spanners up went the arches. The polytunnel was finished in time to grow on many small plants ready for the tubs and planters around Evington for the displays during the summer months. Partners TCV held successful courses on growing food with some local residents.
Many thanks go to Marks and Spencers who had a volunteer day working on the site with TCV on October 14th doing repairs to the plot frames and much digging.
We look forward to preparing the site more now for next summer’s planting.
