SPRING EVENTS AT ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH

www.stjoseph-leicester.ik.com

St. Joseph’s Church, Uppingham Road has recently been the site of many activities and successes this Easter. Around 70 children from the children’s liturgy group composed their own prayers reflecting Sunday scripture readings and depicted the creation of the world in a beautiful collage. The Church also successfully raised £117 for Action Aid during their Fair Trade Fortnight. Furthermore, on Saturday 1st March, the Church organised talks, personal prayer sessions and music meditations for their Day of Prayer & Reflection for Lent. The Holy Week has also seen the Church at its best, being adorned with the flowers and the children’s handiwork.

One of the most exciting events coming out of the Church is the pilgrimage to the spectacular locations of Rome, Assisi and Venice embarked upon by a group of parishioners in March. Their spirits were not dampened by the rain in Rome, and one of their highlights was the breathtaking medieval chapel in the main basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. The Jesuit Church in Venice, they noted, was also very welcoming.

Look out for the new and unusual religious items ordered from Rome at the same reasonable prices at The Watermead Shop, open from Tuesday to Thursday, 10.30am-3.30pm, Saturday 5.00pm-5.50pm and Sunday 11.45am - 12.45pm.
