A WALK WITH COUNCILLOR WILMOTT (LEADER OF THE COUNCIL)
A varied group of 25 Evington people, who all work for the community, were very pleased to be invited to meet Councillor Wilmott and Councillor Bajaj, for a walk around Evington village. The walk identified some places where funding could make a difference. This included the Youth Club, the Park and Village Green for play equipment, the arboretum and park for trees, St. Denys Church for a pull-in for wedding and funeral cars only, CCTV cameras in Evington Village, Christmas decorations for Evington village, speed calming measure on Ethel Road, levelling uneven pavements (we looked at Cordery Road in particular and discussed the problem of churned up verges). We also discussed the Fete and Show, Downing Drive Play area, the improved facilities at Evington Leisure Centre, litter, a bungalow with damp problems on Cordery Road and finally ways of encouraging more young community leaders in Evington.
A great way to spend a morning and Councillor Wilmott said “it is good to get out of the office and have a clearer picture of this area”. For more information about any of the issues raised here, contact Evington and Goodwood TARA (see their advertisement on page 2).
