YOUTH PROVISION

I have to take issue with Margaret Fleming’s suggestion that there is no ‘Youth Club’ provision in the Evington area (Letters, Echo, Feb / Mar 2008).

There are three thriving Scout Groups in the Evington area, whose details are published in each issue of the Echo. Secondary age children are catered for in the Scouts section (ages 10.5 to 14), with older children (aged 14 to 18) catered for by Explorer Scouts. The 9th and 24th groups both have Explorers. Although my own group doesn’t have an Explorer unit, there are other units in Thurnby and Humberstone, which are easily accessible from Evington.
