£70,000 OF CANNABIS FOUND IN ST DENYS RD.
A house in Evington took the term ‘going green’ to an all new level, when police unearthed a drugs farm inside with hundreds of cannabis plants with a street value of £70,000.
The raid also found expensive hydroponics equipment.
Officers had been alerted by residents who heard a window being smashed on the otherwise undisturbed, St Denys Road. It is just one of a string of cannabis farms that have been found in Leicester and locals have been shocked to find their street included in this.
One neighbour told us: “I’m astonished that this could be going on right under our noses. The residents on either side are both elderly and just did not see anybody coming or going in to the house.”
“We assume they came late at night. The windows were well covered with gauze to reflect light for the plants.”
Local Officer Laura Fahy told the Echo that nobody involved in the farm has yet been found. Police have also said “If you are suspicious of a house near you, please report it. We need local people to help.”
