| FAREWELL TO JAN COXON Jan Coxon with some Year 3/4 pupils at Linden Primary School. Jan planned, wrote and organised a brilliant end of term musical production of the ‘Oliver Twist' story called ‘Any Dream Will Do'. After 36 years at Linden Primary School, Jan Coxon is retiring. Teaching at Linden has been rewarding. The staff and children have been like one big happy family. “We all laugh together and at ourselves, and this makes life fun.” Mr Mohamed, Headteacher, said “Mrs Coxon is a dedicated professional. She brings learning to life for all the children and she has never lost the fire in her belly. She will be greatly missed by us all. Linden will not be the same without her.” There have been many highlights during Jan's career, particularly with drama and the Leicester Arts Kaleidoscope Festival, when pupils from Linden performed at the Haymarket Theatre. Jan has seen a lot of changes in teaching and she thinks that education has come full circle. She said, “There was the laid-back 70s and now they say, ‘let's bring creativity back!' It should never have gone out!” Jan will be sad to leave Linden, but she is looking forward to retirement. She plans to return to South Wales where she will meet up with old friends, go on theatre trips and help out with her grandchildren. She sends her thanks to everyone she has ever worked with. |
