THOSE UNEVEN PAVING SLABS

Dear Editor,

As an elderly resident of Evington, I find that I continually have to walk around with my eyes glued to the pavement, for fear of falling over on those uneven paving slabs.

Name and address supplied

Editor's note:

Alan Adcock, Head of Highways Management says, “I would love to be able to renew all the paving slabs, but I just can't afford it. Seven officers go out every day to inspect the highways. Any uneven paving slabs need to be less than 25mm raised and potholes need to be less than 60mm.

TRANSITION LEICESTER

Dear Evington Echo readers,

The Transition Towns is a grass roots organisation that is growing rapidly in the UK and around the world. There are two main goals for our local group.

To reduce Leicester's carbon emissions

To improve Leicester's resilience, so that we can provide core needs like food, energy, entertainment and transportation, even if prices of fossil fuels substantially increase.

The other vision of Leicester is of a vibrant, abundant, wonderful community in which to live.
