The consultation closes at midnight on Friday. Residents are invited to say if they would be prepared to pay an extra 7 pence per week each year as part of their Council Tax. This would reduce the amount of financial savings that Leicestershire Police need to make as a result of the budget cuts inflicted over recent years.
“This is the opportunity for local people to have their say about the type of police service they wish to receive,” Willy Bach said.
“The survey asks people to rate the importance for them of different aspects of policing – which in turn will ensure that the Police and Crime Plan that I am now drafting will really belong to everybody.
“Clearly, I have my own views on what is important but naturally I want to see what local people feel as well, so that we can design a service that fits with their needs and expectations.”
